Ok the title is like Ronseal, it does what it says on the tin.

Where's the oddest place you've met a Villa player?

I'll start! I met Tommy Johnson in Magaluf and he was completely 'the worse for wear'.

I met him again a few years later, at a Supporters' Club do, and I told him that I'd seen him in Magaluf and, before I could say another word, he asked me not to say anything else in front of the other players...!

Not sure a newsagents is a wierd place to meet a Villa player but my Dad used to do a paper round for Villa legend Billy Walker about 3000 years ago, and I've got a phot to prove it! And my first wife (no 1 of 3) was chatted up by Tommy Docherty in a pub in Chester in 1978.....

I met Darren Byfield outside the old Ticket Office, shortly before he got into his beat up knackered old red Metro.

I met Paul McGrath - well he was fast asleep actually - in Flints on one of his "missing" episodes.

I met Ray Houghton and Steve Staunton in a pub on a Friday night before a home match - at 1am Stan had to be carried out, he was so pished. He didn't play the next day, according to Sir Brian, as "he has a heel injury". Not half pop picker.

Aha, that reminds me. I met Gavin McCann in the toilets of a pub at Fulham. He was on crutches at the time.

Yes, but then he wasn't half as pished as Stan. Or us.
