The Danish Lions were representing Aston Villa on the opening day of the season - Michael Bundgaard Nielsen Chairman ( right of goalkeeper )takes up the story....

On the day Aston Villa opened the new season by beating West Ham 3-0 there were 16 Danish supporters (two teams with eight players each) taking part in a football tournament with other supporters clubs.

One of our teams was very close to qualify for the semifinals but unfortunately they lost the decisive match against Liverpool with 0-2 and only became 3rd in their group with Internazionale and Real Madrid going to the semifinals.
 
In the other group it was a complete disaster for our second team - they lost all four games, but two of the teams from that group later qualified for the final, so it was a very hard group! We all had a great day and some of us even got home in time to watch Kevin MacDonald's boys in television.
