Unfortunately their opponents had seen how Aston Villa last season often conceded goals after set pieces at the end of their matches, so the first two matches ended with a single point, after Roma in the first and Real Betis in the other had scored in the last seconds of the matches. Then the Danes secured a 1-0 victory against Lazio before a defeat to Chelsea and finally another victory against Arsenal. Unfortunately it was only enough for a 3rd place in the group and the team couldn't defend their place in the finals at last year's tournament. But both players and supporters had a great day that ended with a big barbecue where Kasper Andersen from Denmark Lions got one of his goals crowned as the best of the tournament.
