Stewie in sizzling form

Stewart Downing April winner

Downing who has been in sparkling form throughout the season had his efforts recognised by the Villa faithfull by topping the poll for April and walks away with the Thomas Cook sport player of the month award.

Stewart was delighted to be handed the gong by Andrew Gamble of the Southampton Lions Club before the recent home game with Wigan.

Terrace Trophy Introduction

Background

Villa's Terrace Trophy - an award synonymous with the club for two decades - has made a cracking comeback. Although the original trophy was mislaid some years ago, an impressive new one was commissioned by the club.

The trophy was awarded for the first time to Stiliyan Petrov as the popular midfield star won the inaugural Lions Clubs' Player of the Year.
